Intensive Cleaning for Wood and Laminate Floors

Dirt and other contaminants build up over time on your wood and laminate floors just as they do on carpets and tiled floors.   Regular dust mopping and maintenance cleaning with a microfiber mop and a mild cleaner such as the Swiffer or the Bona for Hardwood Floors will help keep your floor clean.

Eventually,  the buildup on your floor may become more than can be removed using the above methods.    Kelly Cleaning offers and intensive cleaning process that involves scrubbers such as the ones pictured above that are designed to remove all of the dirt, contaminants and residue from your floor.   Intensive hard floor cleaning involves several steps including dry mopping/vacuuming, cleaning with a strong cleaners and a cleansing rinse with a neutral cleaner leaving your floor squeaky clean.

Intensive Wood Floor Cleaning is offered at 60 cents per square foot.

Maintaining your wood floor: Sweep (we recommend broom for corners and a microfiber mop for the rest) several times a week. It may be necessary to sweep everyday depending on the number of pets and people that use your floor. Vacuuming your floor is also a good way to get dry soil off of it We recommend using the wet Swiffer or Bona Hardwood Floor cleaner. In most homes, cleaning is need once per week. Using vinegar water or a steamer may leave a film on your floor and is not recommended though some of our clients use these methods with acceptable results. Do not use any product that has wax in it. Specific products to avoid are Mop and Glo, Bona Floor Polish. In general, avoid products that say “Shine” or “Polish” on the label. Using them will leave a film on your floor that is very difficult to remove.

Maintaining your Laminate or Plank Vinyl floor: Sweep (we recommend a broom for corners and a microfiber mop or vacuum for the rest) several times a week. Use a product such as the wet Swiffer or Bona Laminate floor cleaner once a week. Using Vinegar water or a steamer will result in a hazy film on your floor. Your laminate floor has a permanent finish on it. Using wax or Floor finish on your floor will result in a hazy dull look that is very difficult to correct. Products to avoid are Mop and Glo, Bona Floor Polish, and generally any product that has the words “Shine” , “Polish”, or “Wax” on the bottle.
